Things to Do

"Like" our Facebook page www.facebook.com/autumnleavesbedandbreakfast and find out what's happening in Anacortes and at Autumn Leaves Bed & Breakfast.

Anacortes is the first of the San Juan Islands, accessible by bridge.  From here you could take a ferry to the other islands or to Vancouver Island, British Columbia.  But you could stay right here; there are so many things to do in and around Anacortes.

Go whale watching, kayaking, hiking, bicycling, fishing or diving.  Sit outside at a downtown restaurant and sip coffee or wine, or relax on Autumn Leaves' patio listening to the waterfall.  Shop, take a boat ride or walk around the marina.  Take the 10 minute ferry to Guemes Island and explore the beach. Go to ACT Theatre, a movie or bowling.  Whatever your activity level, there are many things to do in Anacortes.  Some are pictured in our Gallery.

Anacortes has some of the finest views in the Pacific Northwest: water, islands, mountains and forest. Hike or drive Mt. Erie or the 2.3 mile loop road in Washington Park for breathtaking views and great picnic spots. There are many miles of trails in the forestlands, with lakes and lovely views.

Celebrate your special occasion  at  romantic, luxurious Autumn Leaves Bed and Breakfast.  Have dinner at one of Anacortes' fine restaurants and then go to the beach and watch the sun set over the islands.  It's magic.

PLANNING YOUR TRIP TO ANACORTES

 First day:
Visit Anacortes shops and art galleries.  Have lunch, rest and unwind.

Drive or walk to Cap Sante Marina to see boats and water views.

At 3 p.m. check in at Autumn Leaves.  We will bring you a beverage and snack in the parlor or on the patio.

Take in the fabulous view from Washington Park loop road.  Mt. Erie is a short drive away, with more breathtaking views.

For dinner look through our folder of menus and choose one of the fine restaurants in Anacortes.  Then check out the brewery or go bowling.

If you return to Autumn Leaves before 10, let the jetted tub soothe tired muscles before you sink into your antique queen size bed.

Second day:
After a mouth watering breakfast at Autumn Leaves stop by the deli for a sandwich to take with you on a whale watching cruise.

Return to Autumn Leaves and check out the 1950's magazines in the reading nook.  Help yourself to bottled water or make some tea in the sunroom.

Dinner could be followed by a movie or an early night.

 Third day:
After breakfast, take a walk in the Anacortes forestlands, or go on a kayak tour.  Kayak rental is available; you don't have to be experienced.

In the afternoon, a massage or the short drive to Deception Pass Bridge.  You could take a 45 min. boat ride there, and then picnic on a grassy beach in Washington Park.   Another good picnic spot is Rosario Beach, where you could peer into tidepools and listen to the oyster catchers.

That evening, try your luck at the casino

 Fourth day:
Have a good Autumn Leaves breakfast, then go golfing and/or go to the outlet mall's shoe, clothing and kitchen stores.

Then back to Autumn Leaves to get ready for dinner--perhaps Anthony's or Adrift (reserve ahead).

 Fifth day:
After breakfast head for the ferry (about 3 miles).  Park your car and walk on, avoiding the wait and expense of taking your car.  Spend a couple of hours in Friday Harbor and return to Anacortes in the afternoon.

All good things must come to an end, but then it's time to start planning your next Northwest island adventure.... Let us help you plan a really special getaway.
